TEXTILE ART

How art works is really interesting. It comes from our unconscious, a lot of it and we are communicating in ways we are not completely aware of when we are making it’

Grayson Perry

In this profound journey at the contiguity of art and consciousness, Sequin’s aesthetic exploration explores the play of chaos and order within the creative process. There is a practice of deconstruction and reconstruction, accident and intentionality allowing the medium to shape the work. By allowing the states of flow, randomness and free association within the process of making the work, Sequin is able to work in a trans-disciplinary way, allowing improvisation, performance, ritual, symbolic expression and reflective journaling to nourish her creative process.

Her textile art is inspired by the mysteries of the universe, subtle and parallel realities, archetypes and the collective unconscious. She explores the bridges between art, imagination, science, philosophy, perceptions and the evolution of consciousness. Her creative expression acts as a mirror of our culture and our consciousness; a place where we can push our boundaries ever further. Art-making and artistic expression are our ways, as humans, to tell the stories of our relationships with the cosmos and the world.

Her art practice is a fertile ground to explore the depth of the unconscious, the essence of the creative process. Her pieces and the interplay of light and material in her work act as a natural language of expression, a container for our dreams, playful fantasies and profound visions. She creates art that reflects her inner and outer search for meaning.
