Working with Sequin Kay on the Zodiac collection over 2021 and 2022 was quite thrilling. I’ve collaborated with many artists in my 30+ years as an architect, but Sequin’s creativity, passion and commitment to delivering amazing artwork on time is certainly a rarity. She has that amazing gift of being sincerely receptive to critique and ideas from others, while being totally confident of her talents and creative instincts. As the personal collector of a commissioned piece by Sequin (StarFlake, 2019), I was delighted not just by the outcome, but in the interactive process by which it came into being. Sequin’s insightful enquiries into my personal preferences and expectations resulted in a work of art which was as unexpected as it was stunning. Also, I’m delighted that Sequin has committed a share of the sales of the Zodiac collection to my NGO Rimau, which is dedicated to conserving the highly endangered Malayan Tiger (there are now less than 200 left in the wild). In conclusion, I truly believe that Sequin’s star is only just ascending, and that her most creative and prolific period will soon give rise to amazing works of art that we can only imagine.

I first saw the sacred heart image that Sequin created on FB and it shone at me I guess like you would expect it to. I have a strong connection to the image of the sacred heart due to my upbringing and my development as a spiritual being. I knew it was for me straight away. The medium of the crystals and sequins also connected to the party-fun life style reminiscent of my 20s and early 30s - this piece came to me in a transition period in my life where I was reflecting on the past and wanting to reconnect to parts of me I had left behind for a while. It integrates the lightness with which I take myself as well as the love which essentially binds us all together. A higher love. The piece now sits in my living room framing the room and providing a simple reflective image that catches the light in myriad ways and symbolises the light and warmth that emits from the human heart- the sacred heart - which we all carry whether we know it or not. I’m thankful for this piece in my life and recognise the talent and inspiration that flows through the artist into this simple, beautiful piece. In gratitude.

I have owned one of Sequin’s stunning large pieces, Liquid India for many years. It is one of my most treasured art works and it has moved with me as I moved home. I love the way it never ever looks the same. I love the way the light moves and catches all the undulating textures and forms within the piece. It literally is stunning and so unique. I feel most blessed to be in ownership of some of her pieces, as it lights up my heart and my home with it’s curving form of sequin rivers. It is rather like having a friend in my home that evolves with me.

I absolutely adore my bespoke and totally unique sequin Kay piece of art. It is the first time I have invested money into art and I couldn’t think of anyone else I would have rather made that step with. It is the centre piece in our living room and every time I look at it, I notice a different detail or colour. Sequin even hand delivered the piece herself. I can’t wait to cover more of my walls with her beautiful work.

Sequin has an in-depth knowledge of historical and contemporary art, which informs and shows in the evolution of her work and dedication to her practice. Her lively energy shows through her outstanding use of colour and textile choice; her works speak to you on a unique and deep level. She is a pleasure to work and exhibit with and has a professional outlook when presenting her ideas and concepts to clients. The execution and presentation of her work is of a very high standard and have been proud to have witness her evolution in the art world.

When I first beheld my piece, it’s hard to put to put into words how I felt, it was more simply a feeling. Which was a feeling of being totally mesmerised and that this was an energy I need in my life. Which is the nature of sacred geometry and that fabric of the universe, it sends you the messages you need in that moment, of course. And sequins work in general was giving me the right vibration at the right time and so I bought my first piece of art and will treasure it always.
